Information Communication Agency (ICTA) awards tender for training of 450 Government servants of the Colombo District Office to Informatics.
January 2004 - The Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), in implementing the e-Sri Lanka programme, plans to improve the efficiency of delivery and access mechanisms of the government. The Divisional Secretariats (DS) are the grass root level administrative units, which deliver more than 90 percent of the government services to the citizen. The services of Divisional Secretariats are handled manually and it has been noted that using ICT could enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the services offered by DSs.
The ICTA has initiated a staff Training project, in conjunction with the District Secretary Colombo to build the ICT capacity of their staff.
The District Secretary of the Colombo district has already set up a training centre equipped with 32 computers, LAN, internet accesses facilities, multimedia presentation facilities and other required facilities. Informatics Information Systems (Pvt) Ltd was awarded the contract to provide training for the entire staff of DSs situated in the Colombo District. The training programme spanning one year for 450 staff will be based on providing training for the Sri Lanka Computer Driving licence, enabling staff to sit for this certification examination well prepared.
