Informatics to provide it’s Telecom Software Solutions to Onetel Communications of Bangladesh

Colombo, 10th January, 2006 - Informatics International Limited (IIL) has secured yet another Telecom Billing, Customer Care and Operational Support System project in the Asian Region; this time around in Bangladesh.

Onetel Communications, one of the leading Fixed Wireless CDMA operators in Bangladesh chose AvaBill, the Telecom Billing, Customer Care and Operational Support Software Product of Informatics, after a thorough evaluation of several solutions available in the region. In the face of intense competition, a key factor in favour of Informatics was the richness of feature and the end-to-end nature of its solution AvaBill. This, together with the experience and proven track record of Informatics in the telecom industry, complemented by excellent professional services and support services tilted the balance in favour of Informatics and AvaBill.

With the regulatory approval for the expansion of Fixed Wireless CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) technology in Bangladesh, Onetel Communications received a license to provide telecom services in the Rajshahi division in the North Western Zone of Bangladesh. The division spans an area of around 35,000 sq km, with a population of just fewer than 30 million. All 16 districts of this division will have full coverage from Onetel Communications supported by the AvaBill solution.

The AvaBill solution provided by Informatics to Onetel includes modules to handle the full CCBS (Customer Care and Billing System) requirements for post-paid, along with pre-paid convergence. In addition to the core AvaBill CCBS Solution, AvaBill modules for On-line Mediation, On-line Provisioning and Interconnect Settlements too will be implemented. These handle the OSS (Operational Support System) requirements of Onetel, for both the post-paid and pre-paid operations. Billing, Customer Care and Mediation are expected to be live and operational in a short period of 2 months, while the other OSS solutions are to follow in the 3rd and 4th month as phase 2 of the project. The project will be implemented in collaboration with ICE Technologies Limited, who is Informatics’ partner in Bangladesh for AvaBill.
