Informatics Group Donates High Dependency Unit

 


To fulfill long felt need at Ward 19 General Hospital Colombo, the Informatics Group of Companies came forward to donate a High Dependency Unit at a cost of Rs.500,000/=. The HDU is where patients are moved to, from the Intensive Care Unit after major surgery and kept under observation before they are transferred to the ward, thus making room in the ICU for more pre-operation patients. The HDU consists of two beds with all monitoring equipment with provision to increase the number of beds.

Although the Informatics Group had conducted major projects such as establishing computer units in schools and donating various things to temples in far away Dehiattakandiya in fulfillment of their Corporate Social Responsibility, this year being the silver jubilee tear of the Group, they decided to do something closer to home in Colombo.

The HDU was declared open by Dr. Gamini Wickramasinghe, Managing Director of Informatics Group on the 22nd of December on the invitation of Dr. Ratnasena, surgeon in charge of the Ward 19. Dr. Hector Weerasinghe, Director of the Colombo National Hospital also graced the occasion.

In his address Dr. Wickramasinghe said that this is an eye-opener and a beginning, and the Group would continue to to be of assistance to Ward 19.
