Informatics bags awards at e-Swabhimani 2012

Informatics International, one of the leading ICT giants in Sri Lanka, has been bestowed with the best e-Government and institutions award at the e-Swabhimani 2012, national best e-Content awards, which was held for the fourth consecutive year. Informatics won two awards for the precise category, which were presented for their innovative technologies of Border Management and Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).

By joining hands with the Department of Immigration and Emigration, Informatics has produced the Integrated Border Management System (IBMS), which is a total End-to-End solution for Border Control from arrival to departure and/or transfer. It stores regulated data for viewing, monitoring and security. The enhanced search engines of the system empowers retrieval of high quality, consistent and detailed records of each passenger in just seconds. Jurors of the contest have noticed the product as a supple and an upheld border management system with its pioneering features and strong security mechanisms safeguarding secure and efficient control of the country’s borders and entry points. Integration with Interpol has been a key accomplishment for IBMS as only few countries are linked with Interpol at present.

Informatics, with the collaboration of Department of Immigration and Emigration and Mobitel, had produced Electronic Travel Authorization Online VISA, which is a web based system that enables foreign nationals to gain advance travel authority to visit Sri Lanka very conveniently. The objective of this project was to contribute to national economic development by expediting fast, convenient visa issuing. The award was presented for as it is a comparatively new concept worldwide which provides quick and effective means of providing official travel authorization. The three foreign jurors who had hands on experience using the system for travel authorization to visit Sri Lanka were very impressed with the innovative solution. The ETA is expected to contribute to meeting the tourist arrivals targets of four million per year and increase incomes from tourism to US $ 8 billion by 2020.

The InfoBorder System has bagged a total of four awards across NBQSA, FutureGov and e-Swabhimani.
